Jesus is a crucified King who brings us into His kingdom through the forgiveness of sins. His death on the cross, proclaimed in the Sacrament, offers the happily ever after of paradise to all sinners, as promised to the thief on the cross: "Today you will be with me in paradise" (Luke 23:43). In Baptism, we are crucified and resurrected with Him, uniting us with the King. This relationship means we never die alone, and we live now under His reign, which is defined by the redemption and forgiveness of sins (Colossians 1:13-14).
